Great Site!

My Stepfather told me about a great site www.pandora.com You type in the name of your favorite band or song and the site creats a radio show of similar music, introducing you to new artists. Each mix they've made for me has been fantastic. I've added the site to my "Just for Fun section".

Red Bellied Woodpecker

This guy is quite big for a woodpecker. He only comes around occasionally.

Winged Migration

there is a pair of European Starlings that have recently started visiting our suet feeder, along with the nut hatches and chickadees. Fun bird fact... nut hatches understand chickadee warning calls.

In the style of Anne

I thought Anne's personal map was just too cool to pass up.

No Go on the Interview...

Unfortunately, the guy on the other end of my skype interview was having internet connection problems, so the interview had to be rescheduled.
The internet here in campus today is dreadfully slow, the EdTech people said it is a server problem and they're working on it...
I can't open up the ACB news link. I'll try again tomorrow.

How is the connection in town?

Skype

I've just set up a skype account, my contact is mary.robinson31, very similar to my blog address. I'll be using skype for the first time tomorrow for a practicum interview, hopefully the technical part of it will go more smoothly than the webex experiment did. I've also updated Mario's link on this page.

Comments from Monday's class

Monday was an exercise in patience. While it was admittedly frustrating, I found the situation an interesting juxtoposition to the Tunis piece, where their lofty goals were to get the sort of access we're using (or attempting to). I agree with Audra in that the paper encompasses "lofty" goals, but at the same time, mediocre goals this late in the game just won't aim sights high enough.

Anne's input about copyrights I also found very appropriate. The debates about the length of copywrite (or the legal write to "own" ideas at all) is one that I would like to go into further in class, especially inlight of the success of open-source software.

I've also taken a few minutes and looked at other clasmates links, there is a lot of really good stuff out there!

I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for more good liks to add to my site, hopefully all of you will get some use out of them.

Times are Changing!

Yep, it's time to change the clocks again. For some reason I thought we changed them on the 21st (the first day of spring).
I've received the text book for the IT class and am looking forward to trying out the webex online classroom.

Cool New Quiz, Thanks Anne!

You Are a Chimera

You are very outgoing and well connected to many people.
Incredibly devoted to your family and friends, you find purpose in nurturing others.
You are rarely alone, and you do best in the company of others.
You are incredibly expressive, and people are sometimes overwhelmed by your strong emotions.

Learning Goals

My learning goals for this class are to explore the use of technology in NGOs (big or small), especially seeing how they can optimize operations. The rapidly expanding nature of technology, especially in previously tech. challenged areas excites me. Along with this, I'm looking forward to the discussions surrounding Web 2.0 and its potential. It's also very important to me to have a handful of real-world IT management skills to offer potential employers.

here's lookin' at you!

Yes I'm beautiful, I know. I'm even better looking in person if you can believe it! Ha Ha, just kidding. It really takes hours of make-up and professional lighting to look like this.
